Blind for Tax Purposes…

I’m extremely myopic, which means when I’m wandering around with naked eyes I need to hold things about two and a half inches from my eyeball to see them clearly. (Eyeball, because that’s too close for both eyes, so I close one.)

Generally, of course, my eyes are not naked. I wear contact lenses most of the time, along with glasses for near vision, and different glasses for far vision.

But on Mondays, my eyes are au natural all day long. I remove my contacts Sunday night, and don’t put them in again until Tuesday morning.

It’s a Learning Experience…

So, I’m still working away at the Lynda.com WordPress Mastercourse. (Good thing I love learning new software more than about anything else I can do, huh?)

As part of the course, I’ve installed MAMP, and now I have WordPress up and running on my own hard drive. Which means, gentle readers, that you no longer have to worry about me doing something.. odd… here, when you’re right in the middle of reading something.

Experiments will now be confined to the privacy of my own computer.

However, since one of the things I need to do is get into the habit of blogging every day or so, I will be blogging here, too.  Continue reading It’s a Learning Experience…

I love quilting. Well, really, I’m pretty fond of anything to do with fiber. But for the last couple of years, quilting has really captured my interest. Continue reading Quilting… The Virtual Becomes Real

Learning Something New Every Day…

Once more, into the…. Blog?

I’ve been thinking a lot about starting to blog again lately, and have decided, for many reasons, that it’s something that I should do.

I wasn’t terribly happy with the blogging service I have been using, though; and I decided to look into WordPress, which seems to do all the things I would like to be able to do with a blog.

Imagine my surprise when I realized that I had a blog on WordPress.com already! Apparently, I decided to give it a spin almost exactly four years ago, but then totally forgot about it. (Probably because of the huge amount of work required to move house.) Who would have guessed?

This time, though, I’m going to approach it the way I prefer to approach things. I’m taking a WordPress Masterclass from Lynda.com, so (hopefully) I’ll really know what I’m doing. I’m also kind of committing to writing several times a week.

I’ll be practicing here for the next few days. So if the posts seem … odd, or if the theme is changing every time you refresh the page, that’s why.

It will stabilize soon.

I hope.

Every Tuesday – A Photoshop Video Tutorial!

For the last couple of months, I’ve been posting a new Photoshop Tutorial every Tuesday on YouTube!

I try to show the uncommon and wonderful parts of PS; easy enough for a beginner to follow, but things even long-time users might not know.

This week, I explain how to use the Ruler Tool to straighten a photo that’s not accessible to the automatic Crop and Straighten command.

If you’d like to see the rest of my video tutorials, you can find them at the Robin Wood Ent. channel on YouTube. If you are a Photoshop user, you might find these bite sized bits of knowledge useful!
