The Anatomy of a Hero

The other day, I read a post at Waking of the Bear that spoke of Heroes, Gurus, and Friends. He mentions that he’s not a hero, because he hates conflict, and he says that Heroes seem to love conflict.

I disagree.  Continue reading The Anatomy of a Hero

Don’t do anything you don’t enjoy…

I think that life is too short to do things you don’t enjoy doing.

And yet, there are some things that simply must be done; like housework, dishes, and paperwork.

So what do I do about that?

Fiber Love

I’ll admit it. I love fibers. I love the drape of satin, the bright colors of silk, the crispness of cotton. I love the feeling of soft wool yarn running over my fingers. I love the sound of shears cutting through felt. I love the promise of uncut yards of cloth. Heck, I even love the smell of new wool.  Continue reading Fiber Love

Open Letter to Those Who Aren’t “Good Enough.”

I’m taking part in the Zero to Hero challenge, here at WordPress.

Today, the challenge is to write to that one person we hope would read our blog. The one we are trying to reach.

This is my post, to all those who are burning with creativity, but are sure their work isn’t “good enough.” Continue reading Open Letter to Those Who Aren’t “Good Enough.”

Dreaming

So, I’ve been thinking…

And now… Tangent Lass!

The Zero-to-Hero challenge  for today was to come up with a good name for the blog.

Good… name? But… I’m no good with names! I even called my Tarot Deck “The Robin Wood Tarot Deck.” I sort of assumed this blog would just be “The Robin Wood Blog.”

Wow. That’s really lame and boring. No wonder no one reads it.

So I started to think about it.  Continue reading And now… Tangent Lass!

Taking the Long View – Why Blogging?

For most of my life, I’ve  learned in isolation. For many years, it was just me and my books, and then just me and my computer. This doesn’t really make me self-taught; the books (and computer, and videos) help a lot. I’m learning from others, even if they have no idea that I am.

But every now and then I have a chance to learn with others, as part of a group, with feedback and a teacher who is actually there.

Right now, I’m taking advantage of that. I signed up for Blogging 101.   Continue reading Taking the Long View – Why Blogging?
